When is a compromise good - A case for the Gang of 10
Fri Aug 15, 2008 at 06:43:15 AM PDT
Many times I do not need to look at the substance of an agreement to see that it is a good way to bring a piece of legislation together, I only need to look at who is for and who is against the compromise.
The Gang of 10 bi-partisan compromise for a comprehensive energy bill is far from perfect but it is a great framework to move forward with for a lot of reasons both politically and policy based.
We are losing the battle for the hearts and minds of America
Mon Aug 11, 2008 at 02:05:04 PM PDT
Over the past six weeks we have begun the process of losing the battle for the hearts and minds of America. We began July in the lead or tied for being able to handle every issue that the American people cared about.
- They won the oil vs alternative energy debate. Drilling = Oil company problem Alternative Energy/Conservation = American People Sacrifice
- They are beginning to win the tax debate. Obama = Raise Taxes; McBush = Lower Taxes...the rest is just details that are too complicated for American people to comprehend.
- They are winning the debate on who would be the better CIC and fight a better GWOT. Iraq is now becomming a non-issue since the Iraqis want a timeline from whoever is POTUS...no big advantage there for Obama anymore and McBush takes credit for it with "the surge".
Condi Rice Endorses Barack Obama's CIC Credentials
Thu Aug 07, 2008 at 08:29:21 AM PDT
This will be a short diary. But this needs to get out there. I am sure she will "clarify" her comments after getting waterboarded by Karl Rove and John McBush...
This is Republican so-called "Pro-Life" candidates in action
Fri Jul 25, 2008 at 01:25:33 PM PDT
A short diary here to spread the word that continues to expose the Anti-Choice movement as the hypocrites that they are....
Another hot race is OR-05, where Democrat Darlene Hooley is retiring in a swing district. At first the Republicans looked like that had a strong challenger in rich businessman and anti-abortion foe Mike Erickson. But then it came out that Erickson had impregnated his girlfriend a few years ago and drove her to an abortion clinic and paid for her abortion. Kind of weakens his anti-abortion credentials in the eyes of some folks. CQ Politics now rates the race as leans democratic (was: tossup). Our take: Erickson is dead meat and state senator Kurt Schrader (D) will succeed Hooley.

GWB adopts Obama's Iraq Timeline Strategy and the MSM Reports
Sat Jul 19, 2008 at 06:36:17 AM PDT
Amazingly as GWB keeps moving closer to Obama's Iraq policy, finally the MSM takes notice and reports that in fact GWB has moved towards Obama's policy. As Keith Olberman said,"Mr. President, if you would like to follow Obama's lead for foriegn policy over the next 6 1/2 months that is fine with us."

Don't say I did not tell you so...Hillary still on short list for VP
Tue Jul 15, 2008 at 11:50:21 AM PDT
As many Kossacks have correctly pointed out Hillary comes with WJC who is a former POTUS and that as Obama says "complicates things". But Obama is still seriously considering Hillary as his VP and evaluating the advantages and disadvantages.

An Idea for Expanding Obama's Acceptance Speech Beyond 75K
Fri Jul 11, 2008 at 01:29:49 PM PDT
First of all, I will say that I love Barack Obama's idea to accept the nomination in front of 75K+ people in the Denver stadium. It just puts another historic notch into this election's belt.
Despite the naysayers and the networks threatening to curtail coverage of the Democratic convention because of increased costs of covering a stadium instead of a convention center...in the end, I do not think they will be able to miss the events (for either party) as this is an historic election and the people will want to see these events.
Attacks on Obama about FISA has given McBush a new Attack Ad
Wed Jul 09, 2008 at 09:45:31 AM PDT
During the primaries, many at DKos complained that Hillary was giving the Republicans issues to attack Obama on. I disagree and I think just the opposite has happened, all of Hillary's attacks that the Republicans are trying to use are falling flat on their faces because it is old news already properly defended and addressed by the Obama campaign months ago.

Is DailyKos Really an all Inclusive Democratic Site or a Progressive's Only Site
Tue Jul 01, 2008 at 09:07:40 AM PDT
This will be a short diary.
I came to DKos because it used to be a pro-Democratic site. Throughout the primary I stayed hoping that after the primary we would all come together and figure out how to get Obama elected and come together as a commmunity.
I have started supporting Democratic POTUS Candidates Financially
Mon Jun 30, 2008 at 04:31:14 PM PDT
After staying completely financially independent of any primary POTUS candidate, I finally started giving to our Democratic nominee Barack Obama.
That being said as many of you know me here I believe in my heart that Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are both great Americans and Democrats...
The RW's answer to SCOTUS Decisions they disagree with
Mon Jun 16, 2008 at 09:00:36 AM PDT
Ignore them...yes that is right...we have 3 co-equal branches of government but when one branch does something the RW disagrees with...well we should just ignore the decision and do whatever we think is best.
Here is a link to the RedState RW nutjob who proposes what our country should be according to Mark Impomeni

Tue Jun 03, 2008 at 07:48:45 AM PDT

Can Kossacks Measure Up To Obama's Unity Message?
Wed May 14, 2008 at 04:54:16 PM PDT
After listening to Barack Obama's speech I was touched by his message of power of the people and specifically all Democratic ideals that can drive this country to a new set of change. He talked about that it is not about John or Barack or Hillary it is about each of us who will ultimately change this country...
This is what I was always was worried would happen to Obama
Tue Apr 22, 2008 at 12:12:43 AM PDT
In 1988 for Dukakis it was Willie Horton.
In 2000 it was the "I invented the internet"
In 2004 it was SBVFT
I knew there would be something that the RWSM would come up with to trash Obama and bring him down. The RWSM game plan is all the same...figure out your weakness(es) in terms of the areas that the people are most worried about your leadership capabilities. Then find a situation that fits that issue and will resonate with swing voters...
So What Does the Blue Majority Endorsement for Obama Mean for Kossacks?
Wed Mar 26, 2008 at 02:41:06 PM PDT
As most Kossacks know, I am one of the few people who love both Hillary and Barack equivalently and see that they both have different and complimentary strengths and weaknesses.
This will be a very short diary...
I hope I am Wrong but I fear that I am Wright
Tue Mar 18, 2008 at 03:08:14 PM PDT
During this heated political battle for the primary which has been vigorously debated at DKos. During the primary season, I have been very consistent with my POV (You can check my comment history and old diaries). MY POV has been:
Congratulations Barack Obama for Getting the Rush Limbaugh Endorsement
Fri Feb 15, 2008 at 11:00:50 AM PDT
It is official, Barack Obama will win at least the Texas primary and maybe even the Ohio primary which will deliver the nomination to him. And why will this occur, well Barack Obama has a new endorsement...someone who is very powerful, influential and cunning.
