Lieberman will speak at the GOP convention...Yawn

Wed Aug 20, 2008 at 09:31:20 AM PDT

Well, big surprise. Joe LIEberman is going to speak at the GOP convention.

AP - Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman, the Democratic Party's vice presidential candidate in 2000 and now an independent who is one of John McCain's strongest supporters, will speak at the Republican National Convention, an official said.

Joining the ranks of another turncoat Zell Miller (do you remember him?), LIEberman will praise the virtues of the GOP, while dissing the Democratic presidential nominee. He will probably be nearby when McCain gives his acceptance speech, perhaps hidden behind a curtain (like the Great Oz), prompting the old guy with pertinent information, (like where St. Paul is located).

Lieberman to speak at GOP Convention

Wed Aug 20, 2008 at 07:07:45 AM PDT

Well I can't say I'm shocked.

http://ap.google.com/...

WASHINGTON (AP) — A Republican official tells The Associated Press that Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman will be speaking at the Republican National Convention.

The GOP official said Wednesday that Lieberman would deliver a speech as Republicans gathered in St. Paul to nominate John McCain for president. The official requested anonymity because he wasn't authorized to make an announcement.

Looks like Holy Joe will get to live his dream of being the next Zell Miller.

So what kind of nasty things do you think he'll say about Obama?

(Edited to remove "breaking" from headline so that zombies won't come and eat me.)

Lieberman's Farewell FU to the Democratic Party....

Wed Aug 20, 2008 at 04:55:57 AM PDT

From www.courant.com

Lieberman A Possible Running Mate For McCain

The NRA gave him an F. He is endorsed by advocates of abortion rights and gay rights. And, oh, yeah, he was Al Gore's running mate and remains a registered Democrat.

With a deep laugh, even Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman of Connecticut has questioned if he would be a smart vice presidential pick for his friend, Republican John McCain.

But the Associated Press and the Politico, a respected online news site, each reported Tuesday that Lieberman, a self-proclaimed "independent Democrat," remains among McCain's potential running mates.

And those stories already are riling the right. A horrified Rush Limbaugh told his listeners that he considered the reports on Lieberman to be a serious trial balloon.

"It's not a head fake, apparently, it's a serious float," Limbaugh said. "McCain's trying to gauge, take the temperature of delegates to the convention and these high donors. This is tough because I like Joe Lieberman a lot. He's a fine guy."

Bye Bye Lieberman, No Pro Choice VP....

Tue Aug 19, 2008 at 04:26:21 PM PDT

I don't think Lieberman is going to be the McCain monkey....

As speculation grows around who John McCain will select as his vice presidential running mate next week, Republican National Committee officials said Tuesday that McCain is no longer considering former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge.

Several sources at the RNC told FOX News that in the last 36 hours, senior McCain advisers and aides have told RNC officials that McCain "got the message" last week that choosing a running mate who supports abortion rights would not be helpful.

GOP pundits had been vocal in urging the presumptive presidential nominee not to pick a running mate who supports abortion rights. Ridge, the first homeland security secretary, was said to be on McCain’s short list, and the only candidate who explicitly supports abortion rights.

A new take on Vice Presidential Choices- Joe Lieberman in 2000

Tue Aug 19, 2008 at 03:49:41 PM PDT

As we all anticipate Barack Obama’s Vice Presidential pick and as we play the veep-sweaps and as some of us, state how certain choices will be great while others will be horrible.  Some have even said that some possibilities might even cause us to lessen our degrees of support for Obama; I want to make a point, using a thought exercise.  Let’s travel through an alternate history.  In this history we elected a person, who for most Kossacks, would be one of the worst possible Vice Presidents.  How would the world have changed?

The fictional Vice President I am referring to is, if you hadn’t guessed, Joe Lieberman.  In my alternate history, I am assuming that the SCOTUS allowed the Florida recount to proceed and as a result Al Gore and Joe Lieberman won the Electoral College and were sworn in January of 2001.  Okay, I think for most of us – Joe Lieberman is far worse than any of the names being mentioned this year as VP.  So if he and Al had been declared the winners in 2000, where would we be today?

HILARIOUS - AP calls out Joe Lieberman

Mon Aug 18, 2008 at 08:18:07 PM PDT

Thank you AP for giving us a good heartfelt chuckle this evening!  Fantastic.

His top contenders are said to include Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. Less traditional choices mentioned include former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge, an abortion-rights supporter, and Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman, the Democratic vice presidential prick in 2000 who now is an independent.

Senate 08-09--be worried

Mon Aug 18, 2008 at 09:30:04 AM PDT

Am I the only one who realizes that the Democrats will not have a majority come November 5, 2008-January 3, 2009? This is going to be a very tumultuous winter in DC. Lieberman will leave the Dem caucus and join the GOP (I know, like he hasn’t already). This is a pretty valid inference, since the Dems will almost certainly win at least 5 GOP seats this cycle and Holy Joe will no longer be needed and Harry Reid is then free to punish Holy Joe for his traitorous behavior on Iraq, acting as a Bush surrogate as the Homeland Security Chair, and obviously the presidential race by talking away his committee assignments. I expect Joe to bolt to the GOP right after the election, if not before, especially if McCain commits political suicide and chooses Lieberman for VP. If I can see it coming, his minions can for sure. (I will not let my face turn blue waiting for Lanny Davis to condemn Joe for becoming a GOPer)

What is Lanny Davis Doing?

Sun Aug 17, 2008 at 10:30:55 PM PDT

[From the Frog Pond]

You know, Lanny Davis is right.  Sen. Ted Stevens, like all individuals under federal indictment, is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.  Ted Stevens has been indicted by a grand jury for committing seven felonies.  And last Thursday, in new filings in the case, prosecutors revealed that Ted Stevens turned a $5,000 investment into a $155,000 profit through the use of an $31,000 interest-free loan that was both improper and never disclosed in his senate filings.

Sen. Lugar(R-IN) Slams McCain/Lieberman Over Russia

Sun Aug 17, 2008 at 09:55:05 AM PDT

Senator Lugar appeared on CNN's Face the Nation today with nothing short of honesty.  He bashed Joe Lieberman's recent statements at a campaign rally for John McCain(in regards to Obama and Georgia) as "a clearly partisan statement."  In other words, that ain't straight talk- that's some politics being played by John McCain's close friend.  Lugar definitely decided not to tow the party line.  Commenting on John McCain's position to kick Russia out of the G-8, Lugar said that's probably not a good idea.  In other words, it's probably a bad idea.

Ditch Lieberman now!

Fri Aug 15, 2008 at 08:55:37 PM PDT

With all the love Lieberman is showing to the McCainiac these days, I say it's time to kick Lieberman out of the Democratic caucus.

More Good News For McCain: Harry Potter Pushed Back To 2009

Fri Aug 15, 2008 at 08:18:05 AM PDT

In a striking blow to Barack Obama's Presidential Campaign, Warner Bros. has decided to move the next installment of the Harry Potter film franchise to Summer 2009. The films was slated to swoop into theaters on November 11, 2008. The change in opening dates is yet another in a string of fortunate breaks for the McCain campaign.

My PUMA Friend Would Vote for McCain/Lieberman

Thu Aug 14, 2008 at 01:58:53 AM PDT

My PUMA friend, yes I am still friends with him. Just sent me this email:

If McCain picks Lieberman as his running mate... he has my vote. Now is the time for bipartisanship, something Obama preaches about but both McCain and Lieberman have a history of. Lieberman would bring the social liberalism to the ticket that I so desire, while McCain has the experience to lead. I think this is the ticket, and could actually bring some excitement to the republican side...although I would see it more as excitement for the country in general. A true step towards bipartisanship. B/c we may have ideals on the left and ideals on the right, and you may be one of those that consider yourselves on the far left, but the fact is we currently live in a right of center country...and the only way we can shift to the left (which I would like to see on social issues) is to have bipartisanship.

CBS cuts off Lieberman's "country first" line

Wed Aug 13, 2008 at 07:48:20 PM PDT

Just another example of how much the MSM wants little Johnny Boy to win (can someone please explain why??)  I just watched a clip of the CBS evening news talking about "changes" in the McCain campaign, where they showed Joe lieberman's famous little speech at a McCain Rally:

In my opinion, the choice could not be more clear, between one candidate John McCain who's had experience, been tested in war and tried in peace. Another candidate who has not.  Between one candidate, John McCain who's always put the country first, worked across party lines to get things done, and one candidate who has not.

Sen. Lieberman's $100,000 donation to his own irrelevancy

Wed Aug 13, 2008 at 05:31:36 PM PDT

We all know to hate Joe Lieberman.  Since his nomination to be Vice-President, it seems like Lieberman has done everything possible to alienate his former base and those who wanted him so much to be a first.  The litany is too much to mention, but the highlights of course includes his vehement and illogical support for both Bush's idiotic war, but also his incompetent appointees and his ugly attacks against fellow party members well before this election cycle.
