Fund says Fundies told Miers will Nuke Roe

Sun Oct 16, 2005 at 09:50:11 PM PDT

Is this the smoking gun?  A conservative who takes good notes?
In his column today, John Fund says the following:
On Oct. 3, the day the Miers nomination was announced, Mr. Dobson and other religious conservatives held a conference call to discuss the nomination. One of the people on the call took extensive notes, which I have obtained. According to the notes, two of Ms. Miers's close friends  --  both sitting judges  --  said during the call that she would vote to overturn Roe.

So, do we believe it?  Does this mean we can all go nuclear now?

Is now when the conservatives get back on board?  Will this wrest page one from the all Plame all the time?

What's your take?

Here's what I think. I think this came from the Dobsonites who are ticked off that they aren't being asked to the adults table. They want Bush to own taking down Roe v. Wade. In topsy turvy Bush land, I'm not sure that it isn't a gutsy move. On the other hand, it ought to scare moderates to death, and I'm not sure there is enough coaching in the world to make Harriet Meirs look impressive in front of the TV cameras at a hearing. But what do I know?
